Brief Introduction

Sri Panditaradhya Swamiji, a PostGraduate from University of  Mysore, entered ascetic life and became the pontiff of Sri Mutt, Sanehalli, Branch of  Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Bruhanmutt, Sirigere. Encouraged and blessed by his spiritual father Sri Shivakumara Shivacharya Mahaswamiji the 20th Peethadhipathi of Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Bruhanmutt, Sirigere,  he immediately entered into many fields of reforms. Sri Swamiji is a literary person , Social and Religious Reformer, Political Guide and also a Patroniser of Art and Culture.

            As a religious leader Sri Swamiji is responsible for conducting many programmes like mass marriages and inter – caste marriages.  He is of the view that Indian society is caste ridden and classed one. He views that programmes like mass marriages and intercaste marriages help in this regard to bring social harmony and patch up the gap between upper and lower class people. Hence, every year, such programmes are systematically arranged under Sri Swamiji’s care and guidance.

Participation in different Programmes

Swamiji has  participated regularly in religious, social, political, educational, literary, economical and cultural programmes organized in different parts of the state and country.   Swamiji is regularly participating in 3 – 4 programmes a day. If we record all the programmes participated by swamiji in an year, it may be recorded in a Guinness book of records. Swamiji is regularly participating in “ Shivagosti”, a symposium organized by the disciples of Davanagere city on Second Saturday of every month for the last 20 years.

Areas of Achievement

  Religious       : Dissemination of Vachanas of  Shivasharanas (Basaveshwara and others )         
                          of   12th  century,  religious  discourses ,  Initiation  programmes, tours  of     
                          Shivanubhava etc.,

 Education      : Swamiji  is presently working as President / Secretary / Patron  of  many    
                          reputed  educational  institutions  of  Karnataka  State. Swamiji  is  also       
                          running a free  hostel in Sanehalli for the children of poor  families  and      
                          rural areas.

Environment : Organised  many environmental awareness programmes in different parts of      
                          the country and developed awareness among the public through  
  his writings on Environment.

Theatre           : Founder of Shivakumara  Kalasangha and   Shivasanchara, Shivasanchara       
                          troop  enacted  dramas throughout  the country  to overcome  superstitions                 
                          among the public, to develop communal harmony and religious awareness,    
                          to   promote   education, to  develop secular nature and awareness of    
                          sanitation.  

 Literary         : Sri  Swamiji is a saint of  profound  knowledge.  He is a  great  thinker,  he
                          brought out his ideas through thought provoking articles  and  this                           
                           enabled  him  to emerge  as a great writer. He has composed more than 55    
                          literary  works  and are published. He is also writing articles, criticisms   
                          and columns in news papers and magazines. (Columnist of  “ Balabutti ”                                   
                          in Prajavani News paper).
Cultural          : Founder  of  Sri  Shivakumara  Kalasangha in  1987,  Shivasanchara  theatre   
                           Repertory  started  in  1997.  He organized drams, fair  of  literary  ballads,   
   Vachana music and training in dancing  organized by Swamiji in Sanehall        
   and different parts of the country.

For Children: Camps  on  personality development, theatre arts, dancing, music  and        
                         yogasana   were  organized for the children. “ Dandana Dattana ”   
                         Symposium is organized once in 15 days to develop speaking ability among            
                         children.  

Judgement: Swamiji is known for his judgement. Every Sunday he is trying to resolve   
                     the conflicts of his disciples by listening to their problems and complaints.    
                     Many people have resolved their conflicts outside the court based on the     
                     judgement given by Swamiji.

Tour Experiences

Swamiji travels  hundreds of Kilometres everyday to attend public awareness programmes   in  different  parts of  the  state. He travelled with his disciples in different parts of the country to visit historical places, religious and educational institutions.  Participated in world religious conference at Mount Abu and delivered discourses on various issues of religion and education. Participated as resource person in various  Conferences and Seminars in different parts of the country.

Theatre Activities

Swamiji’s activities in the field of theatre are remarkable.  He is responsible for the establishment of  Sri Shivakumara Kalasangha and Shivasanchara,  a theatre repertory in Sanehalli. The sangha   extended  its displays to the remote villages of the state to eradicate superstitions and blind beliefs  prevailing even today.  The dramas were widely attracted   by the rural and urban mass.
    Swamiji is responsible for the construction of Sri Shivakumara open  air  theatre in a Greek style in Sanehalli which can accommodate more than 4000 people.  National and International drama festivals were organized in Sanehalli. Shivachanchara artists have enacted  four dramas in Hindi based on the life of great social reformer Sri Basaveswara in different  parts of North India. Bharathna Ranga Sanchara is a unique programme in the theatre history of India. Shivasanchara artists have performed more than 42 different dramas with more than 1600 shows in the last 14 years which  are witnessed  by lakhs  of    people from different parts of  the country.
